Details: This demitasse cup and saucer was among some of the first reproductions made by Wedgwood for Colonial Williamsburg - not too long after they began welcoming visitors in 1936. After much research, we cannot find another piece of Williamsburg Restoration Reproduction china to match this one. We believe it may even have been a prototype for what would become the more recognizable Williamsburg patterns such as “Husk” and “Potpourri”.
The underside of both the cup and saucer have an early iteration of the Williamsburg Restoration mark as well as the words “Williamsburg Queens-ware, Colonial Williamsburg Incorporated, Wedgwood, Etruria England, Made in England”. This is a wonderful piece of Colonial Williamsburg history and the Rockefeller transformation of downtown into the beloved tourist destination it is today.
